The third and final round of the Cornwall and West Devon league took place at Carn Brea on Saturday 3rd June. There were several notable performances for Devonport in a tightly contested gala. Other competing teams included Penzance, Bodmin and the hosts Carn Brea.
Our first success came from Nat Chartres in the 13 and under 50m breaststroke. Closely followed by Jodie LePage in the open 100m backstroke. Lee Cobb produced an exciting finish in the same event. Tom Morse also gave an excellent performance in the 13 and under 50m freestyle.
Devonport’s first relay success came from the girls 11 and under 4 x 1 freestyle team, Victoria Philpot, Rebecca Ward, Rebekah James and Sinead Davies. The points after 25 events left Devonport in second place with 66 points and Bodmin first with 75 points. Rebecca Ward claimed another first in the 11 and under 50m backstroke followed by a great swim from Tom Mermagen in the 13 and under 50m butterfly. Tom Morse continued his strong form winning his second event of the meet in the 13 and under 50m backstroke. The girls 15 and under medley relay team showed consistent form, Abby McBeath, Jade Leeke, Abbey Ward and Sam Wilkes to clinch the top spot.  
Devonport produced some excellent swims across all age groups. The final points tally placed Penzance in 4th with 95 points, Carn Brea 3rd with 131 points, Devonport finished in second place with 134 points and gala winners were Bodmin who edged ahead with 148 points.
