Devonport Royal Swimming Association’s news and other information
Devonport Royal hosted the annual school’s relay championships at Central Park on Monday 5th March 2007. The Mount Wise Trophy, is contested by our local swimming clubs. This years’ winners were Dinnaton, followed by Devonport Royal (1) and in third Devonport Royal(2).
Eighteen Primary schools entered the boys 4 x 1 primary relay, where Plymouth College Juniors took top spot followed by Kings in second and Goosewell claimed third place. The Girls 4 x 1 Primary school relay had eighteen entrants with Montpelier Juniors clinching the Gold medals followed by Hooe taking silver and Goosewell again in bronze position.
This year we saw three Primary Schools entering for the first time.
Well done to all the participating schools and to the fantastic support they received from the enthusiastic spectators.
The senior team challenge saw two secondary Schools entering for the first time which made up ten senior girls’ teams and eight senior boys. Plymouth College took top spot followed by Devonport High for Girls and Plymouth High for Girls in third. The boys 4 x 2 relays were equally as exciting with Plymouth College first, Ivybridge clinched second and Tavistock College third.
The School Relays are always well supported and continue to show the breadth of swimming talent we have across Plymouth. Huge thanks to Terry Mansell, Linda Davies and all the officials who contributed to another successful championships.
