Tiverton Sprint Gala

Tiverton was the venue for an open sprint meet on Sunday 15th July. Devonport were well represented across the age groups. For some of our competitors it was their first taste of a gala, however, despite this several of our younger swimmers gave great performances, notably Connor Andrews who at 9 years, reached two finals; the 50m backstroke finishing 5th and 50m breastroke finishing in 2nd place – a great achievement!

Sam Bowden (12yrs) was also in good form reaching the final of all four stroke categories. Sam finished 3rd in the 50m freestyle (32.76), 4th in both the 50m breastroke and 50m butterfly and 6th in the 50m backstroke. Sam finished in 4th place overall in the 100m IM.
Also in the morning session was Laura Moreno-Chamorro (12yrs) who reached two finals, which included the 50m butterfly, finishing in 2nd place (36.80) and 50m freestyle, 4th (32.92). Laura was placed 6th overall in the 100m IM. Jacob Roberts (13yrs) reached the 50m butterfly final finishing 5th (47.08). Rebecca Ward (12yrs) was 3rd in the 50m backstroke final (38.60).

As the evening session began, Devonport were still producing personal best times. Sam Wilkes (15yrs) made the 50m freestyle final finishing 6th (31.42) and Nat Chartres again produced some excellent results taking first place to the delight of our enthusiastic supporters.
Nat finished 2nd in the 50m breastroke (39.33) and took 4th overall in the 50m backstroke. This position was matched by finishing 4th overall in the 100m IM.

Over the course of the gala, we produced some great performances. Thanks Terry and Linda for your support throughout the day!
