Bodmin Open Meet 3/11/07

A small team of Devonport Royal swimmers were to have a very successful meet at the Bodmin Open, with many personal bests and all six swimmers winning medals.
Ryan Moreno-Chamorro won a total of 5 medals competing in the 15 year old age group.  Times of 1.20.66 and 1.22.44 saw Ryan claim gold in the 100M Breaststroke and 100M Butterfly respectively.  Ryan also won three silver medals in the 100M Freestyle, 100M Backstroke and 100M Individual Medley.
Abby Ward also won 5 medals in the 16+ age group.  She claimed a silver medal in the 100M Butterfly which was followed up with two 4th places and two 5th places.
Kirsty Dinham had a very successful meeting recording four personal best times in her five events.  Kirsty’s best performance came in the 11 year old 50M Backstroke where she won gold in a time of 41.17.  This was followed with a silver medal in the 100M Individual Medley.  Further success came for Kirsty with a bronze medal in the 50M Butterfly and 4th place in the 50M Breaststroke.
The good performances continued with two of Devonport’s younger swimmers, Sam Dinham and Connie McGregor.
Sam was competing in the 9 year old age group and swam very well winning a bronze medal in the 50M Backstroke and a 5th place in the 50m Freestyle.
Connie swam in three events and recorded two personal best times.  This consistent swimming helped Connie to win 5th place in the 10 year old 50M Backstroke.
Laura Moreno-Chamorro’s perseverance finally paid off when she won a 6th place medal in the final event of the day, the 13 year old 100M Butterfly.
All swimmers must take credit for not only their good performances but also their willingness to support each other in every event.  Well Done!!
