Devonport Royal Swimming Association’s news and other information
The first session of the Club Championships took place on Monday 6th October, and with over fifty swimmers taking part it was a busy evening. Lots of young swimmers were taking part in their first gala and a few masters also competed, which was good to see.
During the course of the evening three new records were set. Tom Mermagen in the 15/16 year 50m butterfly with a time of 29.84, and Jess Fennell in the open 200m butterfly with a time of 2.56.25 and also in the 15/16 year old 100m freestyle with a time of 1.04.77.
Congratulations to all the swimmers who took part, especially the girls in the 200m butterfly, some of whom swam this for the first time, and who all gave their very best.
A big thank you must go to all the volunteer helpers and officials. Without them these championships could not take place.
